Meet the President & CEO:
Regina R. Keener
Regina brings over 25 years of dedication to children, youth, and families to her role as President and CEO of American Children’s Home. Her career has been defined by compassion, leadership, and a deep-rooted faith in service — qualities that continue to guide her vision for the future of the organization.
A Legacy of Leadership and Service

Before joining American Children’s Home, Regina spent more than two decades serving in leadership roles at Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina (BCH), where she began her career as a cottage parent and rose through the ranks to senior leadership. During her tenure, she was instrumental in three organizational mergers, directed adoption and international programs, and developed innovative new initiatives to support children and families in need.

Her leadership helped launch and expand vital ministries and services, including:

-
A foster care program that served more than 90 children and 100 families in her region.
-
A housing ministry for single mothers and their children.
-
A home for mothers choosing adoption for their babies.
-
Independent living programs to help youth successfully transition from care to adulthood.

In these roles, Regina oversaw annual budgets exceeding $6 million, managed and trained teams across multiple programs, and continually sought new ways to strengthen support systems for families and children throughout North Carolina

Guided by Faith and Compassion

Regina’s approach to leadership is deeply shaped by her faith. Growing up in a small Baptist church in the foothills of Caldwell County, North Carolina, she learned early on the importance of loving Christ and loving others — principles that have guided every step of her professional journey.

That faith, combined with a lifelong commitment to service, continues to inspire her work at American Children’s Home as she leads the organization with integrity, humility, and hope for the future.

Family Roots and Love of Adventure
Though her parents have passed, Regina remains closely connected to her large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, her brother, sister-in-law, and niece, Holli. She now lives in northern Davidson County with her two golden retrievers, Ralph and Ruthie, who are her constant companions.

Outside of her professional life, Regina loves to travel and explore the world. Her journeys have taken her across Asia, Africa, Europe, and South America, experiences that have broadened her understanding of people and cultures. Her love of travel began in childhood — on family road trips in station wagons and 15-passenger vans — and today, she carries that same spirit of exploration and connection into her leadership.

Leading with Vision and Heart for the Future

As she steps into her role as President of American Children’s Home, Regina brings with her a wealth of experience, a steadfast commitment to children and families, and a vision for growth grounded in faith and compassion. Her leadership will continue to build on the organization’s strong legacy while embracing innovation and collaboration to meet the needs of future generations.
