Our Traditional Foster Care Program is looking for nurturing adults who are willing to open their hearts and their homes to children who are not able to live with their birth families due to abuse, neglect and/or dependency.

We license families who live in the following counties:

  • Davidson

  • Davie

  • Forsyth

  • Guilford

  • Randolph

  • Rowan

  • Stokes

  • Yadkin

Referrals for placement come from all surrounding county agencies but also come from any agency in the state.

American Children's Home offers MAPP training, as well as one-on-one Deciding Together, which can be offered in the prospective family's home at their convenience. Both pieces of training are trauma-informed. Requirements include CPR/First Aid Training, medical evaluations, fire inspections, and background checks. Foster parents can be single or married and must be 21 or older.
