Emergency Care Emergency / Stabilization Care program has been established to
serve children who may find themselves with an immediate and unplanned need for a place to live while a more permanent placement
can be arranged. The Emergency Care Program is a 90-day program that provides temporary shelter care. Services include crisis
intervention, assessment of needs, case coordination, referrals, medical, educational, recreational, nutritional, social,
spiritual, and other concrete services that are necessary to meet the basic need for safety while another appropriate placement
can be found and arranged. Many times children who enter the Emergency Care Program are accepted into one of our other program
areas.
Long-term Residential Care
Long-term residential care is concerned with the provision of a substitute family for a
planned period. The
children are typically from homes where the parents cannot meet their needs or children who have had multiple placements in
foster homes or other group living programs. The purpose of our program is to provide early adolescents with the skills that
they need to survive successfully in an environment, which may offer little support.

Preparation for Adult Living (PAL) Our PAL Program allows young adults to grow
and develop both mentally and emotionally to the point of self-sufficiency. We use a multidisciplinary team approach
focusing on the youth's strengths and involving them in the planning process for transition to adult life. Every
youth completes an assessment of individual life skills competencies. Formal and experiential learning opportunities
are provided and become a part of the transition plan.
Family Foster Care
Family Foster Care is concerned with the provision of a substitute
family for a planned period of time to a child who has to be separated from his natural or legal family.
Admissions
Referrals are accepted from all one hundred counties in North Carolina. Court services and mental
health referrals are accepted as long as the child is in custody of the Department of Social Services. An initial intake form
will be completed at the time of the referral. A state application and various records will be requested prior to the
admission. The Program Social Worker will arrange the admission after the child is accepted to the program.
